State Government must rule out bonus to TAFE CEO

The Weatherill Government must rule out the payment of a bonus to the TAFE SA CEO, with the training of 2,500 students jeopardised by the problems facing TAFE’s accreditation.

“At a time when many young South Australians are distressed by the news that their TAFE qualifications may have been affected by TAFE’s accreditation issues, it would be unconscionable for the Weatherill Government to pay a bonus to the CEO of TAFE, Robin Murt,” said Shadow Minister for Education John Gardner.

“The Weatherill Labor Government has proved yet again it cannot get the basics right.

“Any reasonable South Australian would agree that Minister Close must today rule out any bonus payment to her TAFE CEO whilst this accreditation mess is being worked through.

“The people of South Australia – and especially the 2,500 students who may be affected as they prepare themselves for their careers – deserve a government that is open with the people of South Australia and focused on fixing the mess.

“Sadly, this is just the latest example of incompetence in the Education portfolio after 16 years of Labor.”
